My Experience with the Keto Diet

Growing up I was always thin. It wasn’t until I became a mom that weight became an issue for me. During my first pregnancy, I was 21 years old, 22 for one week when I delivered. In that short time of the pregnancy, I’m more than doubled my body weight. This is when and where my struggles began.

My relationship with food was very different.

Food became a pleasure. A couple of years after living heavy I began working out it seems as though that was all I needed to make a significant change in my weight at that time. As life happens I maintained a healthy weight until I had a failed engagement. That time became very turbulent for me and I noticed that I started gaining weight again. This time exercise wasn’t enough I needed to diet as well. Fast forward a couple of years I am happily engaged to the love of my life and working hard with diet and exercise to get to a goal weight for my wedding. I was unable to achieve my goal but got close enough that I was happy at the time. That was about a 30-pound buffer over my normal healthy weight for my age and size.

As they say, we grew fat and happy together. I believe this did happen for me.

The next thing I knew I was a mom again and I was over my weight by 80 to 90 pounds. Based on what I knew I needed to start exercising and dieting. My goal was to get back to wedding weight. Over the next 10 years, I tried all different diet nutritionists and exercise programs nothing worked. In my work as a Clinical and Hypnotist, I often meet with women to help them to break down their relationship with food and especially sugar. One of my clients who I had worked with had great success with the Hipnosis and treatment with me however she was ready for the next step. She met with a wonderful woman and began following her on social media. In turn, she joined her challenges that are six weeks in links to try out the ketogenic lifestyle. She had such great success and brought it back to me to suggest that I use it for other clients. It was at that time that I decided I should try one of these challenges so that I would further understand what it is that I’m suggesting to others. This is when and where what I would deem to be almost a miracle happened for me. It became very clear right away that this program worked for me my body and my lifestyle.

Through my self-hypnosis and following the program laid out for me I finally saw the scale and my body move in the right direction.

By the end of the first six weeks, I had lost almost 25 pounds of fat. My hormones were balancing and I even began to have a cycle again. I had more energy than I could recall having in my adult life. I never felt as though I was missing out on any foods that I loved. When that six weeks was up I had planned to go out and eat foods that were not within the program. You know all of those things that you miss or think that you miss. I had a very hard time finding something that made it worth it! This was a first for me. There were other positive signs that this was working for me such as my body shrinking in my clothes becoming loose. My friends and family began to notice the change and were complimenting me. This works for me is that’s one of my love styles. At that time I decided that this was a lifestyle for me and not just a six-week challenge for research. Since that time I have remained on the diet with an occasional food or celebration here or there that is not within the recommended boundaries. I’ve experienced no major setbacks no mental struggles and nothing but positive reinforcement that this lifestyle is everything I never knew I always needed.
Through my time participating in this lifestyle change I have accumulated a lot of resources and coached a couple of friends clients and family members into trying it for just six weeks. Some I’ve had struggles I didn’t face so I’m have not. All were very successful in losing some extra weight feeling healthier happier and having a new relationship with food at the end of the six weeks. To me, this is a form of paying it forward. I am now offering this coaching through my business for people who are like me who felt stuck and just needed to move forward in life is happier and healthier.
If my client hadn’t returned to me and shared this information with me I may have continued my cycle and struggles. I will forever be grateful to her for sharing and plan to do the same for others.
